Input Data Requirements

This page provides the necessary information on input data requirements for uploading datasets for labelling in a specific project.

Dataset Images

This platform is optimised for managing DICOM (.dcm) files.

Data Location

All data that is required should be available in /data/images. If you cannot see the data you wish to label in that location, then please contact your Systems Admininstrator to ask that the data you require be uploaded to the Aival system.

Folder Structure Flexibility

DICOM datasets should be organised from a root folder, with potential sub-folders for different levels such as Patient ID, Study ID, and Series ID. The following structures are supported:

info

Root Folder: Initiates with a primary directory for your DICOM datasets.

Sub-Folder Organization: Utilises sub-folders for structuring images by Patient ID, Study ID, and Series ID, though not mandatory.

Single Folder DICOMs: Accommodates direct storage of .dcm files in a single folder, ideal for instances like a solitary 3D DICOM dataset.

While the recommended structure aids in organization and compatibility, the system can handle different folder structures. However, DICOM files should not be deeper than three sub-folders from the root - files deeper than this will not be processed.

Image Dimensions

The platform supports both 2D and 3D images.

2D image dimension requirements:

  • Minimum image size: resolution of 5x5.
  • Recommended maximum image size: resolution of 2048x2048.

3D image dimension requirements:

  • Minimum image size: resolution of 5x5x1.
  • Recommended maximum image size: resolution of 2048x2048x1000.

The limits are generally defined by the user's hardware capabilities, especially RAM and GPU memory.
